Despite the moderate success of their first two albums, 40oz, to Freedom (1992) and Robbin' the Hood (1994). Sublime officially licensed the band's new REEFERS brand of cannabis goods on April 21, 2023, the day after 4/20. Surfdog Records published $5 at the Door: Live at Tressel Tavern, 1994, the same day. The record, originally released under Memories, was a bootlegged version of a performance from 1994 in Everett, Washington's Tressel Tavern. With the announcement of Jakob Nowell's permanent membership on January 16, 2024, Sublime was included in the schedule for the 2024 Coachella Festival.
